Office Policies

Inclement Weather Policy - Cancellation information will be available on our telephone message machine.

Registration - You are encouraged to register early to ensure a space in a class. We reserve the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment. If Triangle Academy cancels a course, you will receive a refund. Please allow 2-4 weeks for your refund to be processed.

Payments - Triangle Academy offers several options for payment of tuition. Class fees are to be paid monthly by check, credit card or cash (cash allowed only if someone is in office to issue a receipt for cash payment). Upon registration you will owe class fees for the first month's tuition and registration fee. Monthly fees will be due on the first of each month. If payment is not received by the 5th of the month, it will be drafted from the credit/back card account you provide. Should your account be drafted two successive months in a row, it will be switched to an automatic withdrawal account. Auto-withdrawal accounts will be processed prior to the first of each month.

It is your responsibility to keep our credit/bank card expiration date current. Late fees will incur if we are unable to process your card on time.

Fees are based on a calendar year, and therefore some months may have more or fewer classes. There are no deductions for shorter months.

Make-up Policy

In order to better accommodate our students, Triangle Academy of Dance offers a generous make-up policy to dancers who miss class due to sickness or other personal reasons. Additional make-ups are also granted to dancers whose classes fall on certain holidays, so that each student has the opportunity to receive the same amount of instruction. The total number of make-up classes allowed for each day of the week is listed below. Please make a note of how many make-up classes your child can attend per semester, and remember that make-up classes are completely optional.

Signing Up for Make-Up Classes

*Sign-up sheets will be displayed 1-2 weeks in advance on the Studio 1 Bulletin Board.

*Each class can accommodate up to three students for make-ups. Only classes listed on the sign-up sheets can accommodate make-up students.

*Students may sign-up on a first-come, first-served basis.

*Ballet students in Jr. Division & higher will be responsible for asking the teacher's permission to attend make-up classes.

*Please remember that by February, classes will be working on performance pieces, so students are highly encouraged to attend their regularly scheduled class if possible.

TAD staff will be noting the number of make-up classes each students attends. Please help our staff by following these guidelines. This will ensure an orderly, convenient procedure for make-ups.

Observation

Parents are not allowed in the classrooms while class is going on. Parents may observe from the lobby windows but we ask for your cooperation in not disturbing the students by waving or banging on the glass. This disrupts the class by distracting the students and the instructor. Permission to observe classes other than those specifically designated for observation may be obtained by special arrangement with the office and should be scheduled in advance.

One class each semester will be designated for observation by parents, family and guests. Guests are welcome to bring cameras and/or video recorders.

Parents, family and guests are allowed in the lobby only. This is also the only place where dancers may warm up and focus prior to class, so please be considerate. Chatting should be kept to a minimum, and voices should be modulated to prevent disrupting classes.

Performance Opportunities

Performance opportunities allow students to work with professional dancers and guest choreographers in high quality productions. Such unique experiences add a depth to dance education usually only experienced in professional companies.

Carolina Youth Ballet's repertoire include a November production of The Nutcracker and a full-length ballet in the spring. Ballet levels IV and up are traditionally invited to perform in these productions. Selected roles for younger dancers may also be available by audition.

For students not in Ballet levels IV and up, Spring recitals are held each year to showcase the dancers' yearly progress. Separate recitals are held for Pre-ballet and Ballet I students, Ballet II and III students, and Tap and Jazz students. We do not have recitals for Dance Magic and Kinderdance students. We feel these young dancers are better served by having an observation day in their studio where they feel more secure.

Procedures for Performance Participation:

A performance fee and/or costume fee and signed contract is required of all participants and must be received prior to casting deadlines. All dancers must attend all studio and theater rehearsals.

Family Participation:

Dancers' families are encouraged to aid in productions. The hours involved may vary according to the scheduled performance. Production opportunities include costumes, dancer supervision, load-in, props, boutique staffing and sales and many other essential projects.
